Latvian War Museum Important Tourist Attraction in Riga

Pulvertornis tower RigaLatvian War Museum has been established in 1916 as a museum of Latvian Riflemen and now is one of the greatest and oldest museums in Latvia.

Since 1919 the museum is situated in Pulvertornis tower of ancient Riga’s city strengthenings (14 century), one of 25 towers of fortifications, surrounded city in an antiquity.

Overall objective of activity of a museum is – to open to a society complex military-political history of Latvia. being especially accented on 20 century during which Latvian people had to struggle twice for the independence.

In a museum there are opened the constant expositions devoted to First and Second World Wars, German and Soviet occupations, to processes of finding of independence in 191 8 and 1991.

In a museum there are rich collections of the weapon photos and documents, awards, uniform and other.
